![]() So for a long time now I had been contemplating getting my eyebrows micro bladed. Microblading is a way of semi-permanent make-up, where through manual process of inserting pigment into the upper layers of skin the technician creates the desired fullness and shape of the eyebrows. The results look like natural thick shaped brows. I started researching everywhere to see if I could find the best in the business but was still unsure if I wanted to get it done. My good friend Megan Parker recommended me to Avenue 42 which is a studio located in Brookswood, Langley. My skin is super sensitive so I was worried that it would react. I contacted Mandi from Avenue 42 and right away knew that I found the best of the best. Mandi, who started out as a nail technician has worked in the beauty industry since 1997. In 2007 she decided to open up her studio to further provide beauty services to her clients. She is trained and certified in permanent makeup, cosmetic tattooing, microblading and skin revision. I booked my session with her and waited patiently for the day to arrive. In the mean time I researched different brow shapes deciding on which one would look best on me. The day of the session went really well. I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. I have many tattoos and thought, this wouldn't be as bad! Luckily Mandi put numbing cream on the location so I wouldn't feel a thing! She sat with me and we designed my eye brow shape until I was happy with them! At first I thought it looked rather thick, but Mandi assured me that it would look thicker in the beginning and it would gradually thin out! She started the procedure and I was so relaxed I honestly almost fell asleep. When the session was over she touched up what needed to be done and I left with my after care kit! A few days later I noticed that they were super itchy, which was totally normal. Since my skin is super sensitive they were taking longer to heal and that is why if you have sensitive skin it's important to know the proper aftercare. Luckily when I went for my touch up we decided to dry heal for the entire process. This meant that I would stay away from certain oils and let them heal naturally and which meant I had to keep them away from water for a week. NOTE: Color will appear sharp and dark immediately after your procedure. This is because the color is sitting both on top and below the skin’s surface and blood has risen to the surface of the skin. Once the skin starts healing or flaking, the color will start to fade considerably, as it is then filtered beneath the skin. Expect approximately 30% to 50% of fading during the first 6-week period (depending on area of application) and the final color should not be considered for approximately 6 to 8 weeks after the final visit. Do not be alarmed if it appears as thou most of the color is flaking off. Some of it, along with crusting, will appear on your Q-tip — THIS IS NORMAL. What you will see is the superficial color coming off as it is shed during the natural healing process. A touch-up visit should be scheduled as soon as you pass the 6-week mark post procedure (and before the 8th week has fully ended). All micropigmentation procedures are a two-step process. Results are not determined until final touch-up application is completed. After 2 weeks they felt great and had no skin irritation. I didn't have to draw in my eyebrows anymore. The gap that was missing was filled and my eyebrows looked thicker and had way better shape. It's amazing how my 'getting ready' has been sped up because I don't have to sit and trace my eyebrows. They look so natural and clean! Entire healing process will take from 4 to 6 weeks depending on your body's regeneration, age, immune system and lifestyle. Sometimes after microblading customers develop dry, flaky skin. It is very important not to rub, pick or peel off your flakes or scabs. Itching is absolutely normal as skin is repairing itself. With dry healing its important to not let your brows be exposed to water for at least 1 week. Do not put any ointment on the brows except for coconut oil ( after 2 weeks) Lets scabs come off on their own. It is so important to know who you are hiring as many people now claim to do microblading but are not trained properly in the field and could cause a higher risk of infection. Aftercare is so important and it's up to you to make sure you know how your skin heals. I feel so confident now with my brand new brows and I recommend you go see Mandi because she is the bomb! I have put together a video for you guys to see what happened when I got them done ( both times) Thank you Avenue 42 for your professionalism and for taking care of my sensitive brows!
