Fearless Through Fashion
When I decided to take a chance and also adding blogging to my resume, I told myself that I would work with brands that aligned with my values. I started my blog with a series called "Chasing Dreams" and I followed local small businesses and showcased their story. When my blog started to take off I started working with bigger brands too but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy still talking about local small businesses. I would say 90% of the products and fashion I buy is through small businesses and I take pride in not only supporting these brands but also sharing their story because stories are so important.
ONB Apparel is a fashion brand based out of Ontario, Canada.
When Co-Founders Mike and Shannon Austman originally started ONB it was purely out of a passion for the creative and the desire and drive to own their own business. However, in summer of 2017 their lives came to a screeching halt and took on new meaning when Mike was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer, which required major surgery, 6 rounds of chemotherapy and countless tests, which will be ongoing for the rest of his life.
Instead of letting Mike's diagnosis end their dreams, they decided to re-strategize, rebrand and repurpose ONB. You see during the chaos, which is the journey of cancer they realized how far research has come, yet how much further it needs to go.
The thought of anyone else having to go though this journey is absolutely heartbreaking, but is reality for far more people than should be. This is why with every purchase made from or of ONB Apparel, a portion of the profits are donated directly to cancer research - mostly, through the Canadian Cancer Society.
It is their mission, to do anything they can to help in the search for a cure!
How can you help?
It is so important to support small local business. When you are supporting ONB Apparel you are also helping raise funds so we can find a cure and helping a family as well.
Like I stated before, stories are so important especially with the whole movement of " who made my clothes"? - In this case I can tell you that the people behind this brand are a family who has used their pain and created something beautiful. Community is so important and I am proud to support them!!!
